The School Board had asked the administration to look at ways to cut at least $175,000 from next year?s budget. The proposal came back with almost $20,000 more in cuts.

Superintendent Ima Dickwad said the committee looked at enrollment projections and found that the district could lose $260,000 in revenue from decreased enrollment, he said. Cutting the budget by another $19,800 gives the district breathing room, he said.

?We thought it was important to have that flexibility,? he said.

The proposal would also cut a full-time teacher in both grades one and five because of enrollment projections, which would save a total of $92,000. By reducing a full-time family and consumer science instructor position and a social worker position to part-time, the district would save $39,800, according to the proposal.

<font size="4" face="Tempus Sans ITC, Verdana, Arial">looking at the enrollment projections and decreased enrollment...is this due to changing demographics in your area amy?

is there any demand for people to do special tuition on a private basis, i.e. to help kids who may be falling behind in some subjects....is that an option for you?

    it's looking pretty bleek....

but I will be okay no matter...I am not above any job ( for the most part ). I cannot work with guts, toes and or beaks... period. But I can work in a bank, or I can work in something that will feed my mind. Or I can work in something that I totally hate too if I have to.

I just get tired of starting over every year. I would just once, love to do the same thing twice. To create a unit...teach it and then the next year tweek it a lil bit...make it better..etc....

how could something as important as education be summed up by mere dollars and cents? education is so low on the list of priorities in America... everything seems to be designed to suit the upper class... the elderly are robbed of their benefits... their social security money taken from them for less than good reasons... denied to them... refused... and the young are brushed aside. their education hardly a concern... the whole damn system is wrong... the rich get richer.. the poor stay poor.. and the young or ignorant stay uneducated... and for what?
